The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin
This word can be used in many ways. You can be saved from financial ruin, a bad relationship or a dangerous situation. In Christianity however, salvation means one thing: we believe the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ, as God’s offer of forgiveness, can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into one’s life by faith.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
